ANNIVERSARY
THE SPANISH FEDERATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN CELEBRATES ITS 105 ANNIVERSARY
The Spanish Federation of University Women, FEMU, celebrates its 105th anniversary on 7 March, as it was created in Madrid on 7 March 1920. At that time, it had the name Juventud Universitaria Femenina (JUF), which included names such as Clara Campoamor and María de Maeztu (president in the early years). Thanks to the impetus of these visionary women, the JUF was immediately integrated into the recently created International Federation of University Women (FIMU). Its president already attended the I International Conference, which took place that year in London, where she presented a report entitled ‘Higher Education for Women’.
We are very proud to celebrate this important date with 148 members in Spain.
