PAN-AFRICAN WOMEN’S DAY

On Pan-African Women’s Day, GWI celebrates the remarkable achievements of African women and their pioneering role in advancing equality in Africa.

Established in 1962 during the first conference of the Pan-African Women’s Organization, the Pan-African Women’s Organization, the day recognizes the critical contributions of African women to achieving political freedom and improving the social and economic status of women in Africa.

GWI remains committed to empowering and unifying African women since it formed the Federation of African University Women in 1991.

As a tribute, GWI highlights the achievements of its twelve African National Federations and Associations (NFAs) through an infographic and press release featuring inspirational stories of pioneering African women.
