Spanish Federation of University Women
FEMU‘s 106th Anniversary
The Spanish Federation of University Women (SFUW) celebrates its 106th anniversary on March 7. On that day in 1920, the most advanced women of their time met in Madrid with Clara de Campoamor and María de Maeztu leading them and formed the Women’s University Youth (JUF) that would later be integrated into the International Federation of University Women (FIMU). Its president already attended the First International Conference, which took place that year in London, where she presented a report entitled “Higher Education for Women”. Today, 106 years later, we can tell you that we remain committed to making international understanding and peace a reality through education and parity for women and girls. The Spanish Federation is growing gradually, with 151 members this year spread between Bilbao, Marbella and Murcia.
