The awarding of scholarships to twelve exceptional students, ten of whom are starting their university careers, and two excellent graduate students, was a moving event.

Jessica Breitenfeld’s training in the basics of public speaking was clearly evident in the heartfelt words of each of the scholarship recipients.

The meeting ended with the words of Isabel Cintado, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Equality of the Marbella Town Hall.

WOMEN IN THE BACKROUND OF HISTORY

ENDE

Ende (or En) was a manuscript illuminator active in the Kingdom of León (northern Iberian Peninsula) in the late 10th century. She is the first recorded female artist in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the first in Europe. She may have been a nun, perhaps from the monastery of San Salvador de Tábara.

She illuminated the Beatus of Gerona, which contains the Commentary on the Apocalypse compiled in 786 and preserved in Gerona Cathedral.

On Pan-African Women’s Day, GWI celebrates the remarkable achievements of African women and their pioneering role in advancing equality in Africa.

Established in 1962 during the first conference of the Pan-African Women’s Organization, the Pan-African Women’s Organization, the day recognizes the critical contributions of African women to achieving political freedom and improving the social and economic status of women in Africa.

GWI remains committed to empowering and unifying African women since it formed the Federation of African University Women in 1991.

GWI COMMEMORATES WORLD DAY AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS WITH AN INFOGRAPHIC

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, observed annually on 30 July since 2013, aims to raise awareness of human trafficking internationally, with a focus on identifying the underlying socio-economic and cultural issues that create vulnerability, allowing human trafficking to thrive. This year, GWI joins the United Nations (UN) and other organisations in calling on Member States to recognise the atrocities of human trafficking and improve their efforts to prevent and convict for this crime.
