The Motorcycle Diaries
Thursday 16 April at 6.30 pm
At the home of Eloísa Sánchez-Amillategui
Cycle: Ibero-American Cinema
The Motorcycle Diaries is a film of discovery — beginning with the enthusiasm of a youthful adventure and culminating in the awakening of a social conscience —, filled with majestic landscapes, human encounters, idealism and the harsh reality of a continent. It is the story of a journey through the heart of Latin America, a journey that transforms two young friends’ perspective on injustice and hope; and it is, above all, a tale of the formation of an identity that would shape history. We look forward to seeing you there.

LITERARY GATHERING
RELATO DE UN NAUFRAGIO
(The Story of a Shipwrecked Sailor) by Gabriel García Márquez
Monday 20 April at 18:30 at Marbella Club
We will be discussing Relato de un náufrago (The Story of a Shipwrecked Sailor) (Debolsillo, 2013, 176 pages) by Gabriel García Márquez. A journalistic reconstruction of a shipwreck, as recounted to the young reporter García Márquez, by the sole survivor, who spent ten days on a raft without food or water. Its publication in the Colombian newspaper El Espectador would cost one man his career and lead to the other’s exile. An excellent narrative that will prompt us to talk and debate once again about the brilliant Colombian writer and his work.
We look forward to seeing you!

Wautier was noted for the variety of subjects and genres in which she worked, including the large genre of history painting, something unusual among female artists of the time who often limited themselves to small-format paintings, usually portraits or still lifes.

FEMU‘s 106th Anniversary. Spanish Federation of University Women
The Spanish Federation of University Women (SFUW) celebrates its 106th anniversary on March 7.
