MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY

GRADUATE WOMEN INTERNATIONAL TACKLES MENSTRUATION STIGMAS THROUGH EDUCATION

On Menstrual Hygiene Day, 28 May 2024, Graduate Women International (GWI) is pleased to announce the publication of a press release and an educational infographic in support of “The Pad Project” organisation. These resources aim to highlight and address the significant stigmas surrounding menstruation that often isolate women and girls from their communities and hinder their access to education. The infographic underscores the need to break these stigmas and to promote a #PeriodFriendlyWorld through education.

Menstrual hygiene is a critical aspect of public health and human rights, directly affecting the dignity, health, and education of women and girls worldwide. For instance, the lack of proper facilities, education, and sanitary products forces many girls to miss school during their menstrual cycles, perpetuating gender inequality and limiting their future opportunities.
