We are launching a new series: Love and Heartbreak in Iranian Cinema. My Favorite Cake is a magnificent work that celebrates the courage to seek happiness — it begins with the quiet routine of a seventy-year-old woman and transforms into a vibrant encounter with life — filled with the aromas of saffron, shared conversations, solitude, and the audacity to break imposed silences. It is the story of Mahin, a widow in Tehran who decides to open the doors of her home and her heart to a new beginning; and, above all, it is a tender and luminous tale about personal freedom and the universal right to love and be loved.
