We begin this year’s Cinefórum with a cycle dedicated to Italian cinema. As our first film we have chosen Mediterraneo (1991) by Gabriele Salvatores, a moving dramatic comedy that explores with humour and melancholy the connection between people, civilians and military, in times of war.

It won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film and three David de Donatello Awards: Best Film, Best Editing and Best Sound. Mediterraneo is sure to delight us with its moving narrative, capture us with its beautiful landscapes and provide food for thought on the futility of war and the need to foster universal brotherhood.
