CELEBRATION

SAINT  ÁGUEDA

On February the  5th

On February the  5th, the Festival of Saint Águeda is celebrated in many territories of Spain. Known for being the patron saint of nurses and, in general, protector of women, celebrations in her honour vary by region.

AMUM celebrates it every year with a chocolate party in February. This year, for  special reasons, we will not be able to do it, so we just want to remember the date and emotional value of our annual meeting.

The celebration of these festivities dates back, at least, to the end of the 19th century, although the origin of the devotion to the Saint actually dates back much earlier. Agatha of Catania was a woman who lived in the 3rd century AD. C. and her life is told in multiple hagiographies.
