UWE : University Women of Europe

University Women of Europe (UWE) is a network of academic associations and organizations from 20 countries. She collaborates with the Council of Europe and the European Women’s Lobby on all issues affecting women’s lives in the European community. The UWE offers European national member associations of the International Federation of University Women (IFUW) the opportunity to cooperate at different regional levels and to collaborate with European international organisations to support the IFUW programme in Europe. The UWE was founded in 1981 so that women could actively participate in the development of European society. Its objective is to promote the objectives of the Council of Europe. It also collaborates with all other governmental and non-governmental organisations dealing with European affairs, in particular those that have a direct impact on the lives of women in Europe. The UWE has consultative status with the Council of Europe and is a member of the board of directors of the European Women’s Lobby (EWL). The European Women’s Lobby represents more than 4000 women’s associations and is the largest association of women’s organisations in Europe. Membership in the UWE is open to all European national women’s associations that are members of the IFUW.
