THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL
Cycle: Comedy
Monday 15 April 2024 at 18:30
Urban Hotel Óbal (antiguo San Cristóbal)
Humour, intelligence, wit, imagination… These are, or so we think, the keys to a great
comedy and with that intention we decided to start this cycle with The Grand Budapest Hotel, a movie directed by Wes Anderson that links the story, and the adventures of its characters,- workers and guests of the hotel-, criminal activity -crimes of greater and lesser degree are not lacking- and the melancholy from the splendor of the past. An exceptional work, perfectly set and interpreted which will for sure engage and open a lively debate.

LITERARY GATHERING
THE GOOD SOLDIER by Ford Madox Ford
Monday 29 April at 18:30
Marbella Club
We will discuss El buen soldado (Editorial Alma, 2023, 272 pages) by Ford Madox Ford. In the words of José María Guelbenzu, this is “one of the most rounded and perfect novels of the 20th century… a masterpiece… about decadence and lies”. With a sophisticated and modern narrative, appealing to the use of flashbacks, Ford Madox Ford offers us an implacable critique of Victorian morality, infidelity and human passions in general. It deserves to be delved into and discussed in depth.
Welcome!

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WORKSHOP PROMOTED BY UWE

However, and considering ethics, AI does nothing more than repeat the current patterns of society, since the number of women,

WOMEN IN THE BACKROUND OF HISTORY
TAMARA DE LEMPICKA ( 1898 POLAND- 1980 MÉXICO)
Tamara de Lempicka painted glamor, sophistication, elegance and modernity in the interwar era… What we know as Art-Deco. The artist would become one of the visible heads of this movement
Tamara de Lempicka’s portraits, nudes and other scenes are a window to the wealthy gentry and decadent aristocracy of the interwar period. You can almost perceive the perfume of Chanel and you can feel the Great Gatsby, between underground and total luxury.

PROFESSIONS
WOMEN IN THE KITCHEN
The kitchen is a space in which not only history, customs and different techniques are manifested. It is also a place that has allowed the transformation and discussion of various inequalities that have their origin in the arbitrary obligation that gender roles have given to women, assuming them as the ones in charge of nourishing and feeding the members of the family and society in general.
